Frequently asked questions
What is Claimmyfare Assist?+
A free Chrome extension. You install it from the Chrome Web Store, open your TfL journey history page yourself, and click a button — it reads what's already on your screen and tells you which journeys look eligible for a delay refund.
Do I need to create an account or connect my TfL account?+
No. There's no sign-up and nothing to connect. You sign into TfL the same way you always have, in your own browser — the extension never sees or handles your TfL password.
Does the extension submit the refund claim for me?+
No, never. It stops at giving you the exact station names, date, time and delay to enter into TfL's own claim form. You review it and click submit on TfL's site yourself, every time.
How much does it cost?+
Free to install and use — the free tier tells you how many journeys on a page look refundable. Standard is £4.99/month for up to 20 journey checks. Unlimited is £8.99/month with no monthly cap, aimed at full-time commuters or more than one card. Both plans start with a 14-day free trial.
What counts as a “journey check”?+
Each journey the extension reads and evaluates when you scan a page, whether or not it turns out to be refundable. Rescanning the same page doesn't cost you anything extra — it only counts journeys it hasn't already checked this billing period.
How does the 14-day free trial work?+
When you upgrade, your trial starts immediately and you get full access to the plan you chose — you're not charged anything during those 14 days. After the trial ends it automatically renews into a monthly subscription at the plan's normal price, unless you've cancelled before then.
Can I cancel?+
Yes, anytime. There's no account or login — you cancel directly through Stripe's own secure billing portal, linked from your upgrade confirmation page. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you're never charged again after that, and you don't need to contact your bank or card provider to do it.
Does Claimmyfare take a percentage of my refund?+
No. You keep 100% of whatever TfL refunds you. If you're on a paid plan, that subscription fee is entirely separate.
Is Claimmyfare affiliated with TfL?+
No. Claimmyfare is an independent project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by TfL.
What data does the extension send anywhere?+
Very little. No journey details ever leave your browser. If you're on a paid plan, it reports a count of journeys checked (and roughly how much they could be worth), to track your monthly limit — never which journeys, never station names, dates or times.
Why does it need a Chrome extension at all — why not just a website?+
Because it works on a page you're already viewing and signed into. A website can't read your TfL account without you giving it your login — which is exactly what this avoids.
